Knock them cold in black and gold. This Victorian black onyx and 14k gold brooch is one of the most magnificent we have seen in this style. The top of the brooch is a starry flower with multiple rings of diamond-shaped onyx, like spiky petals. An onyx circle sits at the center, set with a single tiny pearl. An onyx swag with three diamond-shaped dangles hangs from the bottom of the brooch. Each piece of onyx is set in engraved bezels, and shining gold beads sit at each interstice. The construction of the piece is lovely, with several pierced tiers creating a three-dimensional effect. The brooch is finished with the c-clasp pin common to the era. Absolutely stunning. Circa 1860.
Details.....The brooch measures 1.23" wide and 2.35" long with dangles. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it a part of their charm.
